The Detroit Red Wings have recalled Givani Smith from the taxi squad. The big 6’2, 210 workhorse is now looking to become a mainstay on this Red Wings roster. Smith played 22 games last year picking up three points in the process. The physical winger threw 42 hits playing a fourth-line role and averaging 9:41 time on ice last season. Givani is now looking to grow from his role last year and become more versatile. He brings a toughness that not many players on the roster can match, and he works exceptionally hard in the corners.

Developing his offensive zone play will determine if he will stay on the main roster. If he can throw hits, win puck battles, and have finesse out front, he can win the fourth line winger role for the season.
