After spending close to a week off the main roster, Mathias Brome has been recalled from the taxi squad for his second-straight game. Brome now looks to build off his slow start and become a mainstay on the Detroit Red Wings. Through 11 games, Brome has been held pointless, but he was generating offense and creating opportunities.

Brome is an exceptionally hard worker and brings some flair to the lineup. He should slot nicely into the third line and hopefully produce in this Florida Panthers series. This series is huge for Brome’s confidence level and proving he should be an everyday player on the Red Wings. Expect Brome to play extremely well this series and maybe even register a few points. Now that Brome has experienced the NHL and also has had it taken away from him, he will not want to lose this opportunity again. Playing in the NHL consistently is challenging, but Mathias Brome absolutely has the skill set to do it.

Givani Smith, who played exceptionally well against the Panthers on Sunday, was also recalled from the taxi squad today. Coming off a game where Smith had two points (a goal and assist) to go along with two hits. The 6’2″ 210lbs right winger made the most of his 11 minutes of ice-time. Smith has played in six-of-13 games this season and collected four points in those outings. His physicality was felt on Sunday, and the Red Wings will look to capitalize on a similar performance in tonight’s game.
