    The Approach

The Detroit Red Wings lost their last two games against the Florida Panthers. In the second game of the series, the Red Wings played much better but lost 3-2 in overtime. The Red Wings have been struggling with playing consistently but have managed to string multiple good games together earlier in the season. There’s no reason they cannot do the same this afternoon against Tampa Bay.

    Tampa Bay is a Juggernaut

The Tampa Bay are Lightning are good. Not just because they won the Stanley Cup last year. Not because they are a deep roster on paper. The Lightning play a fast-paced, energetic style of hockey which is fun to watch. The Red Wings are going to have their hands full. Currently, the Lightning lead the entire NHL with 52 points in the standings. However, the Lightning split their last series against the Columbus Blue Jackets AND the Red Wings have beat them earlier in the season. The last game the Red Wings and Lightning played was on March 11th. Red Wings goaltender Jonathan Bernier made 40 saves en route to a 6-4 Red Wings win. It is not impossible for the Red Wings to beat the Lightning. But it will not be an easy game by any means.

    Players to Watch

    Tampa Bay

I have three players to watch for the Lightning. Steven Stamkos, Brayden Point, and Ondrej Palat. Stamkos, Point, and Palat are tied for second on the team in scoring with 32 points apiece. All three of these players can be deadly in the offensive zone and continue to prove it this season. The Red Wings will need to shut this trio down if they have any hopes of winning this afternoon.

    Detroit

My player to watch on Detroit is Robby Fabbri. I am picking Fabbri again due to his effort on the ice. Fabbri was picked for the March 30th game against the Panthers as well. He did not score a point in the Florida series. However, Fabbri is one of the most fun and exciting Red Wings to watch night in and night out. Whether he ends up on the scoresheet or not be sure to watch Fabbri if you want to see effort out of a Red Wings player.

Puck drop is set for 1:00PM EST. The game is avaiable on BSSUN and BSDET+.
