Tonight’s Matchup

The Detroit Red Wings return to Little Ceasars Arena to host the Dallas Stars tonight. The Red Wings have lost their previous two games against the Stars earlier this week and will be looking to bounce back. The Stars offense overpowered the Red Wings early in the game on Tuesday night which led to a final score of 5-2. Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill announced that the team will be without Captain Dylan Larkin tonight which will be another hurdle the Red Wings have to face.

    Players to Watch Tonight

My player to watch for the Stars tonight is Jason Robertson. Currently in his rookie season, Robertson has been a breath of fresh air for Dallas. Robertson is one of the favorites to win rookie of the year which is more than deserved. With 14 goals and 21 assists, Roberston sits third on Dallas in terms of scoring. Robertson has been a huge help in secondary scoring while Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov are still injured. Going into tonight’s game Robertson is enjoying a five-game point streak where he has totaled eight points.

My player to watch for the Red Wings is Jakub Vrana. Blashill released a lot of unfortunate news today in regards to player injuries. Tyler Bertuzzi, Frans Neilson, and Larkin (pending further evaluation) may all be done for the season. The brightest spot on the Red Wings roster right now is Vrana. In his first three games, Vrana has scored one goal and one assist. A fast-paced, high-energy player like Vrana will always be a good player to look out for on the ice and the scoresheet.

    Tonight’s Prediction

Tonight’s game worries me if I am a Red Wings fan. The Dallas Stars are coming in with all the momentum they need to carry them back to the playoffs. After winning both back-to-back games the Stars are going into tonight’s game with a third straight win on their mind. The Stars energy combined with the Red Wings recent struggles and injuries could add up to a tough game to watch.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST. The game is available on BSDET, and BSSW.
